SAWSTON, BLOCKING IN COLOUR SHAPES

A COLOUR OR TONE SHAPE MEANS BLOCKS OF COLOUR OR TONE THAT ARE SIMILAR TO EACH OTHER, ABOVE  IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE SHADOW ON THE BALL AND TABLE BEING ONE TONE SHAPE.
THE EXAMPLE ABOVE IS THE NEAGTIVE SHAPES ( The bits in-between ) MAKING 1 TONE SHAPE THAT DESCRIBES THE POSITIVE SHAPE, THE FIGURE, BUT NOTICE THAT THERE AREN'T ANY OUTLINES BETWEEN ONE OBJECT AND THE OTHER. THAT'S BECAUSE THE SHADOW UNITES THE OBJECT AND THE BACKGROUND.

THIS EXAMPLE IN BLACK AND WHITE SHOWS HOW TO ADD COLOUR SHAPES RATHER THAN OUTLINE EACH LEAF, OUTLINES RARELY EXIST IN LIFE, SO WE DON'T REPRESENT THEM IN DRAWING UNLESS THAT IS OUR INTENTION.
