GILLIAN MARKLEW
Gillian Marklew BA, CDS, EAWS Gillian Marklew graduated from Leeds Polytechnic with a degree in graphic design in 1981, and embarked on a career as a freelance illustrator,1st designing the information boards at Arkwrights mill museum. Gilly then moved on to work in an advertsing agency back in Leeds until the early 90's, before becoming a full time children's book illustrator illustrating 40 books with most big publishers. in 2004 Gilly became an adult education tutor and still runs regular classes in watercolour and drawing, in and around Cambridge. In 2009 that Gilly began painting watercolours for open exhibitions, and won most popular painting award 2 seasons in a row, at the Cambridge drawing society. She has won several awards since including the RWS, the RI, and the SEAW. Gilly teaches Watercolour Painting and Drawing to adult learners at several colleges in the Cambridge area.
